Established in 2004, Denfind Stone specialises in the supply of competitively priced sandstone for building cladding and drystone dyking. The majority of our stone is sourced and recycled from the “spoils” of our own Pitairlie Quarry in Monikie, ensuring that we are particularly environmentally friendly as there is no new quarrying process involved.
We also source a huge variety of other stone, in many different finishes and colours, to suit the demands of even the most exacting build. Whenever possible, this is done from other environmentally friendly Scottish sources but we will always endeavour to deliver the stone required by our clients, no matter the specification.
GUILLOTINED STONE
Our natural guillotined stone is ideal for cladding on new builds, extensions and renovation projects and is virtually guaranteed to add value to any project of this nature. It is available in a broad range of sizes from 100mm to 180mm wide on the bed and this eliminates much of the work needed on site. Pitairlie Stone is primarily used but many other types of stone are also available. For ease of handling, it is delivered in ½ tonne bags, ensuring it’s extremely manageable to use both on the ground and on scaffolding.
DYKING STONE
The dyking stone is hand picked, graded on site in Monikie and then stored under cover to ensure the best possible quality. Naturally flat bedded, it comes in different sizes to provide a good mix of material that is ideal for dykes, retaining walls and landscaping projects. The feedback we have had from experienced dykers confirms that the quality of our stone ensures minimum wastage and contributes greatly to on-site efficiency and excellence of build. It is available in either bulk or 500kg bags. Larger feature stones are also available on request and we are always happy to discuss the specific needs of any dyking project and supply the stone and expertise required.
COPING STONES
The perfect finish to any dry stane wall, this stone is also sourced from our quarry and can be supplied in standard widths of between 250mm – 300mm or to client specification whenever possible. The copes are sold by the linear metre and are normally delivered in 500kg bags.
DESIGN, CONSULTANCY & DRY STANE BUILD
We work in partnership with Dave Wilson, one of Scotland’s foremost stone designers. He offers our clients a unique opportunity to use natural stone to enhance their home, garden, building development or business premises with a handmade one-off natural stone feature.
Denfind’s Stone Manager, Dave Sinclair, is a Master Craftsman Dry Stone Dyker and through him we offer an on-site consultation service. This enables builders, architects and customers to ensure that the best use of the stone is being achieved and the build quality is to the highest possible standard. We can even arrange for our own team of professionally trained dykers to build to the specification required.
DRY STANE TRAINING COURSES
Dave Sinclair also leads our training courses which are geared towards beginners and improvers as well as professional dykers. The courses are held in our own training area at Denfind Farm and are informal and friendly - ideal for anyone looking to develop or improve their dyking skills.
